About Chakchas
The Chakchas or Chajchas are shamanic instruments used to energetically cleanse the energy field. They are also used as percussion, very common in Andean folklore. They are usually played in pairs and are constructed from the hooves of animals (usually sheep, llama or alpaca) that are hold together in bunches sewn on a piece of strip, a kind of cloth bracelet.
